Oh, well. Despite my worrying cognitive decline, today ran fairly smoothly. We did Social Studies as a block of two periods, and will do the same in science tomorrow. For the record, the homework in science tomorrow is still the personal definitions (1-25) from the Eukaryotes text, due tomorrow. We also have the Prokarytoic Structures summative test on Tuesday of next week. Be prepared!
We continued somewhat from our conversation yesterday about the invasion of the Americas following its "discovery" by Columbus. By breaking into smaller groups and reading/translating the text as well as asking questions about the material, most groups in all classes were able to get more than halfway through the "Invasion" test, which was handed out today. (I'll attach it below.) Our goal is to finish that on Thursday, and then respond to one of the CAR prompts, due Friday. Remember, we are reading for comprehension, as well as for a deeper set of questions about WHY these events unfolded the way they did.
The new unit in Social is under the "Early Colonization" Tab, btw.
On a final note, it is worth mentioning that there will be some days where I will not be able to get to check in on this site. If my schedule doesn't allow me to respond to you quickly, I apologize. Please do leave comments, though. I do read them, I will respond if I can, and you can always help each other out. Thanks!
