Oi. I apologize. It has been a very long, very intense day. I am slap happy, a wee bit.
In any case, today was super simple. I realized last night that I was worried about a sub giving the formative test for the Atmosphere unit, mainly because the test scanner can be a little particular. I also wanted to take a brief minute to review some core ideas before we took the assessment, and if we took it today, I could use some of my time over the next few days to work on ways to address any of the issues that become evident from everyone's scores.
In any case, today we took the formative assessment for the Atmosphere unit. I provided flashcards, as well as all the texts we have used over the past weeks. As I have said in class, we used some extra time for science at the beginning of the year, and now that is a bit reversed so we can catch up in social studies. In any case, I rather expected some of the older material would be a little rusted into our brains by now, so I'm not surprised that the initial scores weren't so hot. I might enter these in some form by Monday, but for the moment I'm only entering the corrected scores, which were much better. This tells be two things: we don't KNOW some of the basic elements of the atmosphere unit, but we can USE them if they are present.
It is your job to work on knowing them, so you can use them next Friday for the summative assessment.
I did leave the remaining packets for the Atmosphere unit out. Please do not take them if you can print them from this site. Be nice. As for tomorrow, we have the Earth's Interior packet to finish, as well as Madison, Marbury, Monroe and Quincy. Both are due Monday, and there are some spare copies in the room.
Please recall I will be out Friday, but I will check this site over the next few days. If you've got queries, speak/type up!
