A brand new week, and some new stuff. We took some time in science to talk about research, which is something we'll be pursuing frequently. In this case, we put into action some of our general rules for internet searches: search using specific terms, avoid generic words like "the, what and a," and use quotation marks when seeking a specific phrase. We also discussed the various website extensions like .com, .net, .org., .gov and .edu, and how they can give us some clues as to the value of a website. (In general, avoid commercial business websites. Educational university websites can be good, but they can also be overwhelming because they aren't really age appropriate.)
We also discussed the basic features of acids and bases, and did a small demonstration on generating (and combusting) hydrogen gas.
In social studies, we discussed the preamble for the Constitution. Remember! That test is Wednesday! You will need to walk into the room with the preamble memorized, and you must be able to explain what it means!
See you all tomorrow!
