Good news! A whole bunch of people had their science fair results done on time today to check off and discuss. Bad news: not everyone did. Good news for the bad news people: I forgot the list of students who did not have everything to turn in today, so I can't send out the phone calls for science fair tonight. I will, however, send those out tomorrow.
So, in science today, we did basically two things. While everyone started working on a quick worksheet to practice predicting osmosis and identifying type of solution as hypo/iso/hypertonic, I was able to check in with everyone who had their SciFair results to ask and answer questions. We then reviewed the worksheet, and the majority of students seemed to understand the process. I will provide a summary of the relevant terms and definitions tomorrow, and we will have our Formative Pre-test for Osmosis and Diffusion Friday, with our Post-Test Summative on the last day before Thanksgiving break. As for SciFair, I have decided to be nice and push the due date for the final product to Monday. Anyone who completes the Project in either final or rough draft version can have it graded and returned with a chance for corrections, which is not something I normally do for summative grades. Anyone who turns it in on Monday will not have that option.
In social studies, we turned in and reviewed the best responses for the Short Answer Responses for the "Black Death" text. Now that we've answered and reviewed the basic ideas for that material, the assignment is to pick one of the three CAR prompts at the end of that packet and respond to it by Friday. I strongly recommend everyone come in with a general outline tomorrow, which I can then double check and give feedback on.
Okay, with all that said, I have some grades to do and some calls to set up. On a final note: I will be out of town tomorrow night, so if you have questions, I will not be able to respond through the website. Make sure you bring them up in class tomorrow, or during an available study hall (before school, lunch, 10th period, etc.)
