So, today was...interesting. In my first class, we mostly wrapped up the responses for "The First Presidency" text that are due tomorrow. A few people moved onto the next text on the Adams Presidency: those SARs are going to be due on Thursday.
In my first and second groups, we moved on into science to practice making some predictions about how the weather will behave in the future, and started looking at how to interpret maps of the weather.
My middle class did not make it to science. We took some extra time to read through the social studies material, and there were some concerns that some people were struggling unduly with the material. I consequently rewrote some of the passages at a lower reading level. These are not meant as a replacement! The whole key to growing as a reader (and therefore learner) is to be challenged by the material. The proper way to use the alternate texts would be to read them first, and then read the advanced text. The understanding gained from the simpler text should enable you to more effectively interpret the more advanced text.
Don't just read the alternate!!!!!
Remember, tomorrow is a half-day. No after school events! (Except the open gym in the early evening.)
