But! In any case! To the lessons!
In science, we began actually performing our lab...we'll finish this up tomorrow, and then the presentation (poster or powerpoint) will be due Monday. I have to admit, I really enjoy watching what everyone comes up with...I've got students investigating the effect of size and shape, different color dyes, the presence of peel, etc. I'm really looking forward to seeing the results, because in some cases, I really don't know what is going to happen!
In social studies, MR. Sabbah started us out by discussing what types of places there are to explore, and then we considered what resources and supplies are necessary for exploration. Also, we discussed possible motivations for exploration, and then ordered possible motivations for European exploration on a provided chart, with 1 being the most important motivation, to 12 being the least important.
Finally, everyone was given a handout to read, and then use to respond to the following writing prompt, using the CARs format (check the rubric section if you've lost yours!)
"Describe the circumstances and events that led Europeans to conquer new lands."
Due tomorrow! The handout is two files, attached below. Ta!
