So, today was great and terrible. Much like the Wizard of Oz. We spent the day working through the remainder of the genetics simulation we started yesterday. I gave out some additional information and clues, and walked through some ideas. The rest of the time was spent trying crosses and working on the question set I handed out at the beginning of the class.
The great part was that I got to witness a whole lot of people suddenly "get it," which is always deeply satisfying. On the other hand, many others just felt stuck...which is never fun. My only consolation is that if we try, they too will get to understand. It is a nice feeling when it all clicks into place.
Tomorrow, we will get to make our predictions about the genotypes hidden in your envelopes. And then we will open them. and then, right or wrong, we will KNOW.
